shifter help

hey my name is bob i just bought 3 1990 dsm"s 2 are talon tsi's and one is a eclipse i got them in a pacage deal with a ton of parts off my buddy for 500 i love them but have had real problems with the one i am curenntly rebuilding the tranny from ground up and it is a pain the whole shift set up was fubar i had to ad a new master and slave sylenders and a whole new clutch kit but my real question is inside the car inside the shifter housing there is a ton of foam that is just a mess can i remove that or is it there for a reason? also if there is any parts u need for these cars get ahold of me maybe we can trade or somthing

You can get rid of that foam. No big deal I had a similar substance on my laser. I'll keep your name on file man, I will be coverting to turbo soon and need to have my tranny re-done. Do you know of any good kits? Is there a better tranny in general I could buy?
