shift cable adjustment

Take your shifter consul apart and disconnect the cable from the shifter and it's going to take two 10mm wrenchs. Hold the big hexagon piece of the cable with one wrench and the nut with the other wrench and start adjusting. Oh and by the by if you're having problems with getting into gear also check the bracket that holds the shift cables onto the transmission.

I got a question on this, my 3rd gear only stays in under pressure like when I give it gas, the shifter cables look fine. Could it be the bracket? Or a sycro? and how much would it cost to get a syncro done at a shop if that was it.

Could be the bracket, could by syncro's slider, shift fork, its tough to diagnose, this seems to be a common problem all of a sudden though (maybe just because I've been reading about it in two other forums). If adjusting the cables doesn't help, making sure your clutch is properly adjusted, etc... it might be time to pull the trans and have someone take a look at the internals.
