Shep vs. Jacks

Interesting, I've always heard awesome things about Jacks. I believe that he is the only one to have made a 4-spider diff for an auto trans as well. :thumb:

that's cool. He also happens to be less than 30 minutes away from me. JNZ and shep are far away, I prefer to be able to visit a shop in person.

go with a stock rebuild.

it's not how much power can it hold, it is the simple fact, when will it break.

i have a shep stage 3 with a welded diff. that grinds. and less than 800 miles on it.

jack's his web site says it all no tricks or magic parts he explains all that goes into his rebuilds , pros and cons and if You know what your doing you can buy gear clusters separate and rebuild it your self.
But if your loaded with money shep trans cant go wrong either way.

I have been dealing with Shep for 5 years, had my trans freshened once and will be sending it back again this winter for the same treatment. He is ALWAYS great to deal with, his trans has been proven time and time again in fast cars! He stands behind his work and is a great guy to deal with. The trans has always shifted great never any issues at all.

I have a TRE Stg 2.5 with Evo III 1st and a welded diff and I love it. I have over 15k on that tranny, never broke a gear. I have over 30+ 11.60-11.80 passes on it trapping over 120mph, and a few 11.1's@127 on it just this season alone. Last year was all mid-high 12's. Shifts like a dream at 7500rpms. Never skips a beat. I would NEVER go anywhere for my transmission but there. John knows so much about the way these trannies work, he'll spend an hour explaining why or why not you should go with various parts/upgrades.

It's hard to say who is best to go with, but look at everyones results. Improper installs can affect a transmissions performance so ignore horror stories, and make sure your clutch is adjusted correctly no matter who you go with. Most of the shop cars here at STM use TRE's and we are all in the low 11's, 10's and even 9's without failure.

And when it's mostly just John building these trans I'm sure it can get a little hectic to reach him at times, but in my opinion it's worth it they are some bad ass transmissions.
