so i searched, couldnt find the answer i was looking for.
I know shaft play is caused by bearing wear, ive taken apart and rebuilt a turbo before.
my question is, what is the cause for in/out shaft play? I had a brand new forced performance 18g journal bearing turbo, and iv developed enough in/out shaft play that i need to rebuild it and iv only been running the thing for about 9 months... it has almost zero side to side shaft play. im asking because this is the second time that iv had this issue now, around the same time frame for failure to happen.
my main guess would be that im not purging boost quick enough and causing slight compressor surge?
i have an HKS SSQV BOV with a the 1/4" hose from the manifold going straight to it then a vac line air filter that adapts it from 1/4" to 1/8" hose which fits directly to the BOV. the vac line is not T'd or shared to any other device. I'm running roughly 25lbs - 28lbs of boost.
