I got a 97 gs. Looking to swap a gsx motor and use a gs tranny. Is this possible without major headaches. Any suggestions where to buy complete swap from. Also, if I don't do the swap I have a check engine light on because of p1494. Can someone tell me the sensors I need to replace? Thanks again

Any mechanics in queens looking to do the dash swap for me. And heater core??

you'd have better luck with an evo 4-9 engine. gsx is backwards from the gs engine. tranny won't bolt up to it either. instead, use a 4g64 out of a gallant or 3g eclipse and swap the evo 8 head on with the tranny from the 4g

the gs has a chrysler engine and transmission and is totally different than a gsx or gst it is possible but it not worth it. the shell and interior is the same thats about it for a gst.

What about a gst swap instead?

This is not a practical swap. It has been discussed many many many times over the years. The drivetrain layout is completely different. This would be the same amount of work at swapping a motor into any chassis you choose. The fact that the bodies are the same is not relevant.

as i mentioned, a 99-03 galant 4g64 or 00-05 eclipse 4g64 with the same tranny would be better. 4g64 is basically a stroker 4g63. fill the 5 holes in for the extra oil drains and put the dohc evo head on. you'd have better luck that way instead of a gst or gsx swap.
