Second O2 Sensor (Down Stream)

I just got in my new rnr racing cat-back exhaust and it comes with the o2 sensor flange, the problem is when i dropped my stock exhaust the o2 sensor would not budge. I ended up disconnecting it and then trying to get it off when it was off the car, still no luck. I used a o2 sensor socket and a 4 foot breaker bar and all it did was strip. So my question is do i need a second o2 sensor even plugged in? I do have a cel but i heard that it is common. Also if i dont get the o2 sensor what size is the o2 sensor tapping so i can plug the flange up with a bolt so i dont have an exhaust leak.

the only problems i have heard about not having the second o2 sensor is the cel. might be a problem if you have to pass smog.

I did that mod, worked fine for me. Just don't undersize the resistors.

This morning I just started taking my exhaust off for my new rnr exhaust as well. I've got the old system unbolted but I also can't get the damn heated oxygen sensor out of the old flange. I've sprayed the hell out of it with WD-40 but still no dice.

I don't really want to do that mod on vfaq - I'd rather keep the sensor and put it in my new exhaust... Any ideas on how to get it out of there? Also, what size wrench is that sensor? I'm currently using a crescent wrench but I'm about to go to the store and get a wrench and some PB blaster...

Try heating the pipe around it with a torch, just be careful. If that doesn't work, try some PB Blaster. If I can get my 90 GSXs O2 sensor off, you should be able to get yours off.

Alright, for future reference...

First of all, go to Autozone get some PB Blaster and rent an o2 sensor remover (the o2 sensor is 22mm).

Once I got those I sprayed the sensor with PB blaster. Then I unplugged the other end of the sensor wire from the car which is under the drivers seat near the center console. After that I pulled the exhaust out from under the car, put the socket/wrench on the sensor, put a 3 ft piece of pipe over my wrench and it popped loose in 1 pull.

Yep! WD-40 sucks for removing stuff. Its not very good a penetrant. PB Blaster is the key costs around $5 a can but boy is it worth it.

I have been trying to locate a dummy o2 sensor to use for the 2nd one and i can not seem to find one. How difficult is this o2 bypass mod? Should i just do the mod insted of trying to find a dummy 02? If anyone knows where to find one let me know.

Wouldn't it be a whole lot smarter to try PB Blaster first and use a torch as a last last ditch effort?
