Seal lifespan

What are your thoughts on new in box seals that have been on the shelf? There is really no way to tell how long something has been sitting. I know I've got some seals that are more than a decade old and have been sitting in a box out of any type of light forever. They are soft but does that matter? Makes me wonder about Rockauto stuff too. Do they buy stuff that has been collecting dust for 20 years?

He was born in 1963 making him now 61 years old.

If they are still soft, they are good. It has a lot to do with storage and the chemistry of the rubber, so there is no fixed value.
