Hey guys, well I've been wrestling with a boost Leak on the #1 injector and for two days I've tried removing and reseating the injector rail with no luck. I finally pulled them and cleaned up all the soapy water from testing and came across this.

Now I'm not sure how anyone could have done this, made a half crescent shape on the head, but my question is, if I file this burr down (the edge closest to the injector hole is what's preventing the seal) and filed in the rest of the gouge will this suffice? Or will it end up damaging the head more trying to file it down?
Thanks guys!

It looks like someone cranked the rail down without properly aligning the tip of the injector into the hole.

The only thing you can do is carefully smooth out the burr with a half round file, but avoid scratching the bottom surface of the hole, or dropping debris into the hole. Of course you'll want new injector seals as well.

Ps. I would check to make sure the rail isn't bent, because the rail pushing down on the injector is what keeps those little slot car tire shaped seals sealed.

That was my first thought, but I used a level (not really a proper tool LOL but it did the job) and it came back fine. So I think your right that someone tried to torque the rail down without lining them up. I'll try to pick up a circular metal file today and see if I can level out that burr. And now it starts raining on me.. LOL. Not my day.

Your best bet would probably be to use a dremel with a small grinding wheel on low speed, while running a strong vacuum right next to it.

Oh and the seals I have are brand new, drove to extremepsi yesterday to get them.

I would be in so much trouble if extremepsi was within driving distance. :)

Yea, $20 for seals though takes its toll after the 2nd or 3rd Set LOL. Well I picked up some nail files from a local hardware store and also got some 2 part steel epoxy, filed down the burr and filled in the well with the liquid steel. So well see how that worked

Where did you put the epoxy?

I hope it wasn't around the inside edge of the hole that the injector tip sits in. Epoxy loses it's adhesion under heat and expansion, and you don't want chunks of epoxy falling straight into your valves/cylinders.

Yea this was more of a preventive measure in case any water or anything gets back there, it won't have a channel to get into the injector seal and rot it out. That was my thinking at least LOL.
