I have been using seafoam in heavy equipment engines for years and I have seen it make dramatic differences in performance and idle quality. I recently had a problem with low power from my 91 talon. It felt like the computer was removing timing. Normally what I do is find a secluded spot because you will smoke down your whole neighborhood. Start the engine and let it get up to opperating temp. I remove a vacum hose and put it in the can and rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and suck the can dry. Shut off the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then start it back up and run it down the road, and run it hard. This will remove a substantial amount of carbon build up from the combustion chambers. :thumb:

Went and picked up some SeaFoam today. Sucked in about 1/3 of the can through a vacuum hose. After that finished burning off I poured a cap full into each cylinder. Smoked real bad, but I do have to admit the engine seems to be happier now. :)

EDIT: Woohoo page 7

you guys think i should do this to my car, its a 95 non turbo, with close o 150k miles, the only thing is it was driven by a college girl before me then her mom for a while, so im not sure if i should couse of other gus responses about it

so last question, which hose am I supposedly use when I do this, I tired all 4 and none of them sucked the bottle-worth in.

?

or can I just put it in the valvecover as the cars' running?

If you put it in the valve cover as the engine is running it wil be mixing with your oil. that will help clean the lifters, but wont do anything for your combustionchambers or valves and what not, unless your rings are shot, yur valve seals are leaking, or you have a leaking head gasket....

You should be using your "P" Port on the throttle body to suck it in. Otherwise you can use your BOV line, but that will mis one cylinder... I suggest the P port. remember it is sucking through a TINY straw.... It will take a little time.

I will be doing this later tonight after itis dark. I dont want the neighbors coming after me for smoking the neighborhood out....

Mike :laser:

Maybe I should have let your pic load all the way... OMG I only have two lines runing off the top of my TB.

here is a link that might help out. it shows the "P" being closest to you.

i sucked mine through the pcv valve hose, i hardly got any smoke, and didnt really notice any difference, did i do something wrong?

my car has 90k miles on it and ive noticed some hesitation at wot. my car has been running synthetic (mobil 1) since at least 75k miles when i bought it and its at 91k now. think it would be safe to run this stuff? i mean, my car doesnt really use oil right now, but ive been running synthetic...

also, what do you guys think of like that stp fuel injector cleaner?

Agreed. But I'm just scared of just like how regular to syntehtic is. I don't know how the car was taken care of pervious to me and it has 106k on the clock. I want to do this but I'm scared because I have the worst luck....But I'm gonna do it most likely.
So I just take off the hose from the BOV to the TB, spray it into the hose and just let it run till about half the can? Let it sit, then drive it around? I read the whole thread still a little confused. Also....putting it in the oil and gas...do you just pour it in? or should you mix it with the gas outside of the car then pour it in. Thanks

Well I could, but I was asking for answers from people with experience.
I guessing the people who make the stuff have a little experience with it

I just read all 7 pages, I think I could write a book on this stuff now. I still have questions though. I have a 95 N/T. Is it okay to use the entire bottle before shutting the car off? If I use it in my gas tank or oil after I have changed my plugs and oil from the intake usage do I have to change them again. Also after I wait the 30 or so minutes and drive my car how hard should I drive it. Thanks for the info just need to make very good decisions cause this is my only car.

EDIT: My car has 166,000 and burns a little oil (I use Mobil 1 10w30). Do you think it will extremely bad?

Alright, i'm using seafoam for the 2nd time in a few days...I know this thread is played out but I'm still unsure of myself with this stuff.

What places can I put it, what does it affect in those places, if I put in in said places, what do I need to change afterwards?

Also, what else (besides seafoam) works. Heard anything about lucas oil treatment?

I wouldn't use it on that high mileage of an engine unless your ready for a rebuild.
It might be fine, it might not.

why dont you guys stop dicking around with seafoam and just run MCCC which is sold at the DEALER.

if we all follow your way of thinking people would still be using 16gs and 20gs instead of scm50s and 3065s

guess what....theres plenty of people on these boards running those turbos

guess what else....they are proven to work

best 20g time to date is still 10.8x if i am correct...............anyone that responded to this seafoam thread running faster than 10.8x????

95% of the people on this site use their dsms as daily drivers....not everyone rebuilds their motor every year and makes it squeaky clean....soooooo im guessing NO, no one running faster than 10.8x has responded because they dont need to

man if you guys could have seen my car after I put seafoam in it last year, you would laugh your asses off. I put the entire can thru my vacuum hose, let it sit, then drove down a 4 lane road over by my place... I got on it in 2nd and 3rd gear and the smoke engulfed all traffic behind me.. it was unbelievable... I couldnt even see anything out of my rear view mirrors... my buddies driving 150 ft behind me were dyin.. and my mom was driving the other way on the road, called me, and told me my engine was on fire.. haha. love this stuff. ill have to videotape it all next year.

I JUST finished doing the whole seafoam thing about 5 minutes ago. I must say, that is a LOT of smoke! :D My neighbor (who is a car nut, drives a C6 vette too) came over while I was doing it and said, "uhh, what'd you do this time?" haha. After I explained it to him, he realized it was just like another cleaner like MCCC.

As far as the difference in performance after using it (my car has 130k on the odo, keep in mind), I have noticed a slight increase in part-throttle response as well as a MUCH smoother idle. I've always thought I had a good idle until I did this and realized what it should idle like :p .

Seafoam gets a big :thumb: in my book! :dsm:

i dont like that stuff at all. i hear the chevron "injector cleaner" is the best. that or just a half can of this wonderful seafoam.

Me and suicidal2af did seafoam today. I think my idle is a little more smooth, and I think the car just feels better overall. It got REAL smokey for my car. hahha it was great. :thumb:
