I have been using seafoam in heavy equipment engines for years and I have seen it make dramatic differences in performance and idle quality. I recently had a problem with low power from my 91 talon. It felt like the computer was removing timing. Normally what I do is find a secluded spot because you will smoke down your whole neighborhood. Start the engine and let it get up to opperating temp. I remove a vacum hose and put it in the can and rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and suck the can dry. Shut off the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then start it back up and run it down the road, and run it hard. This will remove a substantial amount of carbon build up from the combustion chambers. :thumb:

i also had a leak from my exhaust manifold to turbo gasket. Replaced it with the SBR gasket... I wonder if it allready had a leak, or if it caused it.. but if it allready had one, i guess seafoam is a good way to see if you have exhaust leaks anywhere :)

yeah, ive got a leak in my exhaust manifold and the turbo gasket, seafoam foudn it for me.

On another note, my coworker has a chrysler sebring. His engin ebay looks like this

notice the mitsubishi badge on the upper left corner? ;)

I was wondering where to put seamfoam in his car?

right by the throttle body there is this rubber line thats clamped down. It leads into the intake manifold. I was wondering If it could be put in there?

thanks for nay response :thumb:

That looks like it may work. Also look for the PCV valve and use that line.

How do you change the plugs in that thing?

i have a blown head gasket should and can i run the seafoam before i replace the gasket or should i wait and do it after just wondering...?

thanks

Jay

on my throttle body i have 2 ports on the top, and 2 on the side. which is the "p" port that i should use. also does the brake booster clean all 4 cyl?

Just ran this today. 1 whole bottle through the P port, COMPLETELY eliminated my lifter tick... thanks!

i was wondering a few questions...first off, i took off my tb because while putting on my intake i noticed alot of buildup around the plate and had someone hit the <air> pedal while the car was off...the throttle body had a ton of buildup behind the plate....so as i took it off and put put on a new gasket and cleaned it out i saw that my intake manifold has the same problem...a ton of buildup...i looked at how its mounted and it looks like its impossible to get to cuz its bolts are coming up from the ground? is there an easier way to get it off or am i going to have to jack the motor up and go threw all the hastle? also is there and penetrating spray i can use while the engine is running with the intake manifold still on that wont damage the engine?

Don't take your manifold off just to clean it. There is this a cleaner that will clean everything intake, cylinderhead, combustion chambers, ect. It is called Sea Foam the stuff works wonders. While the car is running you use a vacuum line, I used the brake booster line and while someone holds the rpms around 4,000-4,500 pour about half the can in. The engine will actually suck it in, then immediately shut the engine off and let it sit for 15 min. Then fire it up and hold the rpms up again and watch all the nasty white smoke burn out it will take a few minutes. Then repeat the process with the rest of the can. Good luck, I hope that helps :thumb:

so, has anyone done this and ended up messing up their engine, or losing compression or something like that?

I gained compression in two low cylinders.

was 180 180 150 150
now 180 180 180 180

that's nuts! you would think that by cleaning crap out of there that it would weaken some of the seals, not increase compression. glad to hear that worked for ya. i might just have to do this...

[Yeah. We do have kids here.]

Naah...I added a bottle to a tank of gas in a NT w/200K miles on it. Smoothed out acceleration a bit.

I am gonna do the intake method on it as well. I will not be adding to the crankcase, don't wanna loosen up any of the crap in there and clog shit up.

used it aboot a week ago in my 92 awd, it has 116k on it, i ran it threw the vacumn line on the back of the intake manifold that is connected to the break booster? i believe.
the car started idleing really really bad, and started chugging i gave it a bit of gas to keep it running, by the time i stopped the bottle was jsut aboot gone i didnt think it would suck up that much compared to last time i used it on my momz vdub. i turned the car off and let it sit for a bit, and i found out that my manifold is leakign also. I waited for my friend to come over (brrrnnntssshhh) so we cna take it for a drive, we drove it around in my neighborhood for aboot 15 minutes at like 11 o'clock we probably woke up everyone, once we got back to my house we saw 2 cops driving around in my neighborhood.

the car smoked for aboot 2 days afterwards, my mom was freaking out, everytime we came to a stop the car would be ingulped in smoke.

i just did this today, my brake booster hose was to hard to get off so i just used the vacuum hose, which is like second from the left, sucked it all up in about 2 minutes, had my brother keep it rev'ing, but he said smoke was coming thru the heater vents, whats up with that? afterwards, smoked like crazy, then got my oil changed like 10 minutes later, and auto zone will be gettin my ngk spark plugs tomorrow. i noticed a more steady rpm, but it still drops down to like 200 after sitting for a while, i think i have a intake manifold leak, also have a leak in my exhaust manifold but i already knew that. any ideas on the heater vents blowing smoke?

Your car couldn't idle at 200 rpm.

The heater vents are blowing smoke because smoke is getting into the intake for the vents. The vents have to get the air from somewhere, right?

the amount of smoke depends on how much carbon and crud is cleaned out.

case in point.

my buddy had a 96 talon awd with 120k that he seafoamed. said it smoked out the whole neighborhood.

he now has a 95 5.0 (under 100k i believe)that we seafoamed. he said that the amount of smoke that came out was nothing compared to when doing the talon.

and it is possible to idle at 200rpm. my car does it everytime i let the ECU reset itself(as in, disconnect the battery). after a day or two it relearns its idle. sounds like crap too and people look at you weird at stoplights like you must have cam durations of 2 feet to get a lope and idle like that.
