I have been using seafoam in heavy equipment engines for years and I have seen it make dramatic differences in performance and idle quality. I recently had a problem with low power from my 91 talon. It felt like the computer was removing timing. Normally what I do is find a secluded spot because you will smoke down your whole neighborhood. Start the engine and let it get up to opperating temp. I remove a vacum hose and put it in the can and rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and suck the can dry. Shut off the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then start it back up and run it down the road, and run it hard. This will remove a substantial amount of carbon build up from the combustion chambers. :thumb:

I've used Seafoam for combustion chamber cleaning and I gotta tell ya, MCCC is better imo. MCCC is thicker and foamier and doesn't pour straight past the rings like water and into the oil pan. Not to mention is comes in an aerosol can making it easier to use. Seafoam was great for finding my exhaust leaks though.

Well, where can you find this "MCCC"? Seafoam has been tested through trial and error, but I am always open to new suggestions... help a brotha out... :talon:

Well, here are some of the pics on my Grand Prix GTP. The smoke actually wasnt that bad, only for like 5 Min of running it, and that was it. I used a vacuum hose, then I used my PCV valve directly, and it worked fine. I used 1/2 in the tank, 1/2 in the crankcase, and 2 bottles in the PCV/VAC assembly. Yeah, I didnt have no fun without the 007 smoke screen. I did notice a hell of a lot better throttle response, acceleration, and it even ran cooler. WOW!!! Seafoam gets an A+, but that is only for GM, now the Talon however, yeah, that is going to be a whole different story, just wait. Here are the pics for the GTP, yeah, its running better than ever now, all 265 Horses...

i know this is old.but to anyone interested.sea foam works in the way that many engine cleaning machines do.when they hook the machine to your car to clean it they use almost the same stuff. NOW on dream car garage, just cleaning the engine of carbon netted 8hp on a mercury merauder.

I just used it on the DSM. The lifter tick isnt GONE but its a lot quieter now. I still have half a can left, so when i get my new plugs it will be going in the TB hose.

Seafoam is some amazing stuff, no doubt. I first heard about it many moons ago when the Lexus dealership told me it was the best injector cleaner to use on my mom's GS300. I bought a case of it shortly after that, and have used it on my vehicles and customer's cars ever since. Good enough for a Lexus = Good enough for my DSM!

I am afriad to seafoam my motor.. Its got 154k on it and I'm afraid when I use it, its going to take out the carbon on my rings and possibly ruin my compression...

I just used it on my friends 380k mile '92 B2600 and it ran better than ever. Yes, 380k mile.

Ive now used it on 4 different cars, all with great results...

Ahhh yes, seafoam. I just got done doing my GSX! I think the best part of seafoam is that it helped me find every single exhaust manifold/system leak :D

*I didn't read the whole thread, so this can be a repeat of my 2 cents.*

Explain how to seafoam your car.

Word of advice too much of anything in your car can be bad.

When I seafoam my car I do it right before I'm going to do a oil change. So it does not stay in the engine too long.

*Seafoam removes carbon build up. Some of the carbon build up bond to the seals over time and once remove can cause a leak.*

(Honestly I am not positive it can cause a leak but thats what has been told to me. So it could be a myth. Sea foaming your engine was common growing up in the southern california region. So I been around/doing it for over 7 years.)

Also people have found many methods for sea foaming....anyways I hope that helps

Take care,

Joseph

I used seamfoam this weekend and now my car runs soo much better that smoke was soo thick and dark it was scary. The odo reads 178k on it and no problems at all it just runs 100% better. I reccomend this to everyone now just watch out for the policia they dont like it.

Were can i pick up some seafoam?? and does that check for boost leaks if so, whare would i enter the seafoam at? is there any other method to check for Boost Leak's, i heard water and saop but were would you put it in?

Advanced Auto Parts. Get two bottles.

Suck it up thru the vacuum line for the first bottle, then the second goes into the crankcase.

That wont check for boost leaks as much as exhaust leaks. Spray soapy water around the piping to look for boost leaks. You dont put soap into your intake system.

seafoam will not detect boost leaks,it is a cleaning agent.you will have to build or buy a boost leak tester and you will need an air tank.
