scratching noise when startup

After my car has been sitting overnight and i start it up, it makes a weird scratching noise for a second. It's been getting louder and its more of a scratching than a grinding. i think it might be the starter cause i can't think of anything else. This happens everytime the car has been sitting for a night. Any guesses?

Go listen under the hood while a buddy turns it on...see if you can pinpoint it first. (or at least get a general location)

That sounds exactly like my buddies car 92 Eclipse. We asked 'gsxtacy', from this forum, to take a look at it and it definitely turned out to be the starter.

Mine also does the same. It's the starter motor.

You would be surprised how many people have the same problem..
