hi ,
searched alot but does not match my problem at all .my car makes a scrapping sound ABOVE 3 k rpm ,it does it at neutral as well so i am asuming it is related to RPM .plus it smokes and burns oil if you give it hard.at idle rpm it does not smoke or even at 2 k .oki i did a timing belt change 6 mnths ago and the balance shaft belts all the alignment is according to repar manual .so basically no balance shaft issue .

did my turbo shaft play was good ,checked my pcv valve did a test on it was good .

what could it be guys any help would be highly appreciated .
i have been looking for answers but no one gives the final answer like which solved there problem .sorry for the long post

cheers :hmm:

A better explanation of the sound would help. Have you done a compression test, I assume the smoke is blueish?

The scraping sound could be the compressor wheel hitting the compressor housing. Along with that, the burning of oil, your turbo could be shot. Another possibilty could be the throwout bearing. Press the clutch in to see if the noise goes away. If so, throwout bearing is the culprit.

I have this problem on my car and its the throwout bearing on mine. Around 2800 to 3500 I get a scrapping bad metal sounds. Now if I hold down the clutch and rev it its not there. If I hold the rpm where it does this and then push in the clutch it goes away. Its common on these cars if it had sat for awhile before being road worthy again. In my case my friends tb slipped and bent every intake valve ope. It sat for 2 years before I bought it from him then I rebuilt the top end and when I started it it made that noise while filling the lifters with oil pressure on first start up. I knew that sounds and did my checks and thats what it is. The bearing gets old and loose. when you push down on the clutch it compresses it all back together and shuts it up until you release it again. In my case I am waiting to change it because I have a rebuilt trans waiting to go inside my car but I am waiting for the clutch to start slipping before i take it out. The problem with letting it go for so long without fixing it is the outer input shaft sleeve that that bearing rides on can get pretty chewed. You will feel it being chunky as you press the clutch down. As for your burning oil. Valve guide seals could be leaking oil past them into the combustion chamber or your oil seals on your turbo are bad. If you hot rod and shut down before letting the turbo cool to normal temps you can burn up the bearing and the seals. But I am almost sure the noise your hearing is not the turbo even if the seals are bad in it. Go and check your clutch bearing noise the way i did and go from there.

yes it is a bluish smoke

thanks spook and jax i will focus on these 2 problems .i will try tomorow early morning to check if it goes away wen i apply the clutch .
i have work hard on this car i live in UAE an i order books an parts from USA

any other knowledge pls do share guys thanks :thumb:
