i'm thinking about purchasing SBR's prothane motor mounts. i have a poppin sound when i decelerate rapidly or accelerate. seems like its coming from the top right motor mount. i had a mechanic look at it and seems like theres alotta play in it. does ne1 have these from sbr? ne good? other recommendations?

Allotta people have those prothane motormounts. Mainly fwd who have alot of wheel hop. They might be a little to hard for your taste, i have the whole kit, and it doesn't bother me. You can feel the engine vibrations through the steering wheel. Really makes a noticable difference though. :thumb:

is this vibration just noticeable when ur idling or all the time? is there ne type of motor mount that doesnt cause this extra vibration i understand the stiffness causes it. i just don't want my car to feel like its bout to break from the vibration...but i do wanna get rid of the FWD's mishaps (WHEEL HOP!) does my poppin sound sound like it is the motor mounts.. i have a feeling it is

Don't want too much vibration while reducing wheel hop? Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts for the front and rear mounts. These help. The vibration is acceptable.
I had the same motor mount problem you're describing, it wasn't hooked up. This caused the metal "clang."
If the side mount is faulty (and you're worried about vibration) replace with junkyard or new part. Putting prothanes into the side mounts aren't going to solve wheel hop problems.

hmm, i always was taught a pop during hard accel or deceleration was the halfshafts. i dont think a motor mount could "pop".

The following causes motor mount pop: When the bolts that attach the mount are not there, under hard accel or decel, the mount bangs against the block. Gross I know :barf:
Also, picture your motor mount..... full of rubber right? If this guys mounts are so bad there's none left, he has metal banging against metal.

I had a set in my 90gsx and all I ever noticed was a little more steering wheel shake. you can get away with just the 3 and leave the rear alone. If its in faily good shape.
