Ken: they made a Laser X2S prototype that was a convertible. It's still in storage at some warehouse in Illinois (or maybe Michigan). Someone showed me pictures of it when they brought it out for some Mitsubishi show at the Normal, IL plant once.

Sounds cool about the hardtop, the car is Mitsubishi's Concept RA. Turbo diesel made in 2008 to show off Mitsibishi technology, here's some info.
