Who's done this on a 1G and who's got some pics... I'm looking at the bracket set and alternator and I'm not seeing how this is going to work. :hmm:

Help please!!!

so like the top of my pic mixed with the bottom? if it isnt to much to ask can i get a pic of how you wired it up?

remember, my plan here is to NOT extend/use the factory wire that was powering my old alt.

Then I'll have to study my car for a few minutes next time I'm out in the garage. Its been over a year since I wired it up, I'll have to take a look later today.

The way you show it in your second pic with the alternator wire connected to the line to the battery totally bypasses the fuse... this will work 100% and should be trouble free... my feeling is that the fuse was added because a primary voltage wire (large gauge) was run to the front of the car and in the event of a big front end collision this line could be pinched and short. Without the fuse you would stnad a chance of the battery melting down... I see no other use for it.

Since the fuse is there I see no real reason not to use it even if you relocate the alternator to a more protected spot... The side of the fuse that is closest to the battery is the battery side and the one that faces more to the front, closer to the other fuses goes to the alternator. In this pic I've already upgraded the battery side (fatty red rire).

To disconnect the power line running in the factory body harness flip the fuse box over and cut the two parallel wires that run to the second fuse terminal and connect your new alternator wire to this point

My plan is to cut the metal tab that folds under the fuse box all together and use a ring terminal like I did on the battery side to make the fuse connection. I'll post a final pic once I have it done but I think this description should be clear.

i don't know what you mean by top pic... i am wiring it as stock. Alternator to one side of the fuse, what was the two white wire, and the battery to the other, that's where the red wire is going.

how are you guys tensioning it? my alternator is on and the belt is nice and tight. all seems well but the little bolt in the tensioner that you screw in isnt all the way inside its sortve out a nice chunk. i shook the crap out of the alternator and nothing happen. is it normal to be out some like that?

Hey I know this is fairly old but how did you guys wire up the other three wires on the plug part without extending the factory harness and going next to the belts. I understand the main power cable but not too sure on those other three. thanks

the harness with battery light wire can be accessed in the wheel well after you remove the liner... I re-routed the wires from here and passed them thu the grommet for the AC relay box (new the MC).
