I'm getting a cf hood soon and I want to secure it safely without hood pins cause i don't like how closely centered you have to mount the pins. Would attaching a steel braided cable to my frame and have it connect to hood work? Cause I've heard of safety cables being used on other cars, but haven't seen it done to DSM's with cf hoods.

It'd all be in the attachment. The trouble with the CF hoods is that their framework isn't strong enough to be able to hold the panel down from below. You need something that provides a positive clamp on the upper surface.

you could always try quarter turn fasteners like they use on sprint cars and all manner of other race cars. www.jegs.com Moroso quarter turn fasteners.

cool, thanks for the tips. i have one more question though. how come a lot of dsmers use the hood pins, but mount them so close to the center instead of further out so it looks better
