safe do drive? white smoke/siren sound...

basically, as soon as my car starts to boost it sounds like a loud siren, then you can kinda of here like metal scraping a little and it actually goes away at high boost... but you can always here it at low boost and white smoke is just constantly coming out of the exhaust. it looks like im having a bbq or something. whats wrong with my car... time to replace the turbo?

both of my turbos whistle, and the one i have now is 2 days running and it sort of whistles, it is not that loud however.... nothing to be alarmed of...i hope. smoke could be a blown turbo tho and youll be wasting lots of oil, so if you gotta drive on it, have a few quarts in the trunk. take off your intake tube that goes to the inlet of the turbo (compressor housing) and look to see if you see oil, and look at how damaged the fins are. if there isnt any oil and the fins didnt scrape anything, it may be your headgasket. check for compression after you checked your intake and see how low or high the compression is. post results if you have to go to that step.

if you have enough shaft play the compressor wheel will chip away and go up the intake tract, most will be cought by the ic but there is a chance that some will make its way through into the motor.

All of this is correct. If your DSM is doing exactly what is stated in the first qoute please check the following: compressor housing, wheel play, and sometimes BOV. It seems like these are symptoms of a bad turbo or turbo failure.

This is from experience with my 2g talon and 02' passat. It really all depends on how frequently you change your oil, driving habit, and age/mileage of your motor. This is something that should be look at immediately.

Now if you don't care then you'll just be another fire truck, ambulance, or cop car on the street!
