my safc I was stolen so i bought a replacement. it was mounted on the apexi bracket in front of the center air vents above the climate control. what i want is a 2g bezel for an safc I with a gauge cut out somewhere on it but nobody sells one. let me see what you guys have done!

i've found that the most inconspicous spot is on the roof right in front of the sunroof. I love mine being up there simply because it doesnt get in the way at all and no one ever sees it outside the car. there is also just the right amount of wire to run it up in the headliner down the passenger side a pillar and down to the ecu. check out the pic

Extreme psi sells AFC bezels for second gens. I have one. It mounts the AFC right where your heater vent is right above your radio.

The previous owner of mine had his in the visor-which worked well for being inconspicuous and in fact just prior to me purchasing the car was vandalized and the gauges were ripped out, as was the head unit, but they missed the visor. Mine aren't used b/c of DSMLink in the car, but it's not worth tearing them out now.

Yeah I did the same thing :thumb:
IMO This is a good place for anyone trying to hide the safc

care to describe how you actually mounted it? I originally wanted to put my AFC up there as well, but couldn't figure out how to mount it securely.

to mount it all i did was bend half of the afc mount that it comes with and put it underneath the little plastic thing and then screwed the other half of the mount into the headliner. It is very sturdy and seems to be holding up well. oh and then i took a dremel to the plastic thing so that i could get the wire in between it and the headliner. to me it seems to be alot better having it up there because there is no bright lights shining directly in your face at night.

yea thats a good idea, but just to let you know before you go ripping the safc out (not that big of a deal anyway) that even with the SAFC zeroed out as in your case the SAFC makes the circut from the MAS to ecu complete. Thus unplugging it = your car not running. Dont bother hooking up the AVCR, not worth it. Just keep the turbo xs mbc.

I know a lot of people have mounted the SAFC below the radio, and I was curious if anyone could let me know how it was done and maybe some pics of the install. Thanks a lot!

I do not have pics as my car is in storage, but when I did mine under the radio, I used a piece of cardboard to cut and bend up a bracket to support it. After I thought it was right, I bought a small piece of metal sheeting from Home Depot for like $5 and cut/bent it to match the cardboard. I then painted it and screwed it into place under the radio and attached my SAFC2 in place. Bingo!

If you take your time and do it right , it is a clean looking install. :thumb:

There ya go. There's a pic of it installed under the radio. There's another night pic of it in my gallery if ya check there. I just made my own install plate out of a piece of thin sheet metal. I need to redo it though because this one is a little off center. But for free-99 what can ya say..

You have no radio? or you mounted it elsewhere?

This cover just pops off in 2 seconds, but im more of an exhaust tone guy anyways. If the radio is a must them I turn it on and put the cover back on ni biggie.

i like the roof mounted idea. i had one in my modified sun visor. it displays the afc when you lower the visor. very trick, clean, and looks tight in a spyder.
