Other Options than SAFC?

Yeah, I recommend GM MAFT. I've got it and I love it. It's a little confusing at first, but it's worth it.

The GM MAFT is a tuning tool that allows you to replace your stock, restrictive mass air sensor with either a 3 or 3.5" unit from a variety of General Motors cars and trucks. The MAFT translates the hotwire signal produced by the GM MAS into a karman count that can be read by our ECU. It has adjustment dials that can be set rich or lean based on both RPM and throttle position, at least with the new version. The new version of the MAFT is supposed to make the AFC obsolete since it can now tune based on RPM under WOT. It now is also a little finer in it's adjustments. It's a nifty little gadget. As far as other ways to tune there are countless, just depends how much money you have. You can use the HKS VPC which is uber expensive, even when purchased used. I don't have much info on that product since I was never interested in it so I never bothered to research it. There is also DSMlink for 2G guys with an EPROM ECU, which is semi-expensive but well worth it since it allows control over so much. Then you get into full standalone like the AEM EMS and Haltech and so many others, but they are really expensive and require wiring and a healthy knowledge of all things automotive. Oh one more thing to look into possibly. If you aren't confident to tune and would like the stock ECU to do it for you then you can look into Jeff's chips at www.dsmchips.com I have one and it's great. Since the main reason for "tuning" is to use larger injectors and bypass fuelcut then that's what the chip will do for you. It allows the ECU to judge how much fuel to put in but removes the limits of the stock program. So far I've run 8.5@81 in the 1/8 on pump with 17 psi, which according to the 1/4 times list should equate to about a 13.2-13.4 in the 1/4, which is not bad by my book. Some race gas and a little more boost should have me in the 12's soon. I also have room to grow since that run was only with a 1.9 60'. Once I get my slave accumulator out I should be able to launch a lot harder.

If i'm not mistaken they are trying to make DSMLINK for the 1g eprom also. Release date is unknown though which sucks. If it ever does get released I am definately going to purchase it.
