Ok so a friend of mine installed an safc II on my 90 talon last night. He followed the write up by RRE and everything was set up right but my car still wouldn't idle for anything and would just die. After fighting with it for a couple of hours i decided to just un install the safc for the sake of driving it home. Problem is after he un installed it my car still runs like complete crap. Before the install my car was running perfect, boosting well ( 8 psi) and pulling -20 vacuum at idle. Now its only pulling -10 or so vacuum and is very shaky and will only stay running for maybe 10 seconds. Also we noticed my valve tap has gotten considerably louder. Idk what to think. I already put a different ECU in and still the same problems. Anyone have anything? Thanks.

There are a couple things that can cause the problems you are describing. When you did the installation, did you set the SAFC parameters correctly? Did you physically cut the MAS wire and make sure you tapped the correct SAFC lead into the correct side of the cut wire? Are you sure you got the right pin? You would be suprised at how many people misread the ECU pinout configuration diagram and tap the wrong pin. There are also two grounds on the SAFC that need to be placed in a particular order, i.e. one has to be closer to the ECU than the other. Messing that up can cause some wacky problems too.

You need to set the sensor type to Karmen, arrow pointing in the North East direction and you should also set the TPS trigger points at 30% and 80%. Additionally, if you purchased this used, you'll need to check both the Hi and Low throttle maps and verify they are set to 0% across the board.

When you install the SAFC, you have to cut the MAS wire before it hits the ECU. You have to remember that when you remove the SAFC, you have to reattach the MAS wire or the ECU will no longer receive a signal from the MAS.

Is your profile correct? I don't see larger injectors, so there is no need to get into injection compensation issues.

actually the problem was timing. it jumped timing about 5 teeth. i figured it was something to do with the safc II install because my car was running perfect before the install and horrible after. And my profile needs to be updated i recently installed 550s and a wally 255. everything was installed correctly thats ###### the reason for being so stumped.i will be putting a new head on this weekend. not the way i like breaking in a new motor. i havnt even put 200 miles on the new motor and this happens.... ill post updates. thanks guys
