Kelowna,
Im wiring in a safc2 on my 1991 eagle talon and I have 3 wires left over, I have searched but couldnt come up with much. They are yellow, white, purple, where do they go? Also I have heard I should not connect the blue wire because it distorts the signal from the o2 sensor is this true?

Several of the AFC wires are only used in other car applications. If you followed the VFAQ instructions, you have everything you need:
APEX'i AFC installation for the Galant VR4
Did you use pin #21 for the rpm?
As far as the blue wire mod, I've never gotten conclusive results. I removed mine years ago, but I don't remember it making any difference. I think the only way to tell for sure would be to watch the fueltrims. If the trims all go up when the wire is attached, the voltage is being pulled down by the blue wire. If the trims all stay the same, the input impedance of the AFC is high enough that it isn't having any affect.

also if you dont have a egt and air/fuel gauge and are still on stock maf and injectors, leave the fuel trims 0 across the board as you will be blind tuning and will possibly burn a hole through the piston or melt things, these gauges are crucial to knowing what is happening.

not to mention, if you are on stock maf and injectors you dont need the afc, but you can use it to help the car as they run lean or rich i cant remember, from the factory.

things i use when using the afc is a 2g mass, 550cc injectors, WB air/fuel gauge, egt and a wide band 02 sensor, also the purple wire is for the knock sensor, on the acf its useless since it dont count knock correctly.

you dont have to use the 02 wire on the ecu, there is a single wire connector in the pass, side kick panel buried a small ways up that is what i use.

dont do "blue wire mod", set the afc before you start the car to signal type - karman and make sure its wired for the karman system.

go to apexi-usa.com , they have full diagrams and instuctions. but remember to set all your settings on the safc BEFORE you start your car.

Actually, if you use the Apexi instructions you end up having to put the AFC in 2-cylinder mode, because they tap the wrong wire for the rpm. That's why I asked if he followed the VFAQ directions, which have the correct pin #21 for rpm.

oh....i did not know that, i knew i had to have it on 2cyl though which i do and it reads and works just fine.....thanx for the corection though. either way though it will still read the same.

All done and setup, I did how ever start the car before zeroing out all of the settings and it would hardly idle, so I quickly changed it all! Thanks for the help
