I have a 90 gsx mods-evo3 16g,evo3 manifold,evo3 o2,walbro 255,650 fic's,2g maf,fmic,mbc,3 inch tuboback exhaust(no cat). Now that that is out of the way,my car is running beautifully strong right now.I am reading in the ideal range on an a/f gauge, but i had to give the a/f gauge back to my buddy.Even though my car is running STRONG i would like to install my safc to further tune.I got the safc2 used so i dont have the manual and i've never used a tuning device of any sort.My question is if i install the safc and get confused while using it or something goes wrong is there a way to leave it installed but not be using it?like a button or option i could use to go to a factory setting or something. Also i dont have a wideband anymore as well.I've gone over some different threads on how to tune with it and it seems fairly simple.I guess first of all do i HAVE to use it if installed and how do i go about that? Also does anyone have any tips on how to go about tuning the easiest way after installing?Basically what levels am i aiming for?Any help would be sooo appreciated.I know it woyld be better to start with the w/b but that is not possible right now and i figured it would be better to have safc2 than nothing at all.

IMO, you really shouldn't mess around with adjusting the A/F ratios without a wideband or some way to monitor your O2 readings effectively. Too much could go wrong to quick if the fuel ratios are not inputted or adjusted correctly and you find yourself in an ultra lean situation under high boost.... Not good. Maybe if you had experience with tuning via a SAFC prior it would be a little safer for you to do, but if you have not then i wouldn't risk it till you can get a wideband so your not adjusting blindly so to speak.

Thanks guys,i am either going to hook it up then take it to get dyno tuned or do it myself if i figure it out.The problem is that i cant afford the 300 for the tune for awhile due to just getting a fmic and evo3 16g among other things. If i was able to get an a/f gauge hooked up do y'all think i would be a little safer from running lean since that is it's primary function?I feel like if anything i might be running a little bit rich. When i had the a/f gauge hooked up yesterday it showed in the ideal range on the rich side at idle and perfectly ideal at boost. As much as i would love to turn up the boost along with my fmic and 650's ive only got it up to 12-13 and it will creep to 14-15 but i literally never wot it as much as i would love to.So in my situation would a a/f gauge suffice if i continue to run the same boost levels? And wouldnt i be a little safer with the a/f, my aftermarket boost gauge and safc than just running the way i am with just the boost gauge to guide me?

If i tune with the safc2 and adjust up and down based on the 88-92 ideal voltage doesnt that tell me whether im rich or lean?Thats what im trying to figure out is if the safc displays the voltage or anything to tell you what your a/f levels are.Isnt that what the blue wire function does? I know of people that use that to tune initially and then disconnect it afterwards. It is the blue wire that does the a/f function or is it something else that im thinking of?I dont know for sure when i can get a wideband. If i just pick up a a/f gauge at an auto parts store will that actually measure the a/f ratio just to give me an idea?i havent been able to get in touch with my buddy so i could ask him what type of a/f system he was jacking around with on my car.Any help would be appreciated y'all
