I bought a talon tsi awd a few days ago and its mostly stock but has a aftermarket intake. Car runs amazing but it has a apexi safc 2 installed. -.- the guy before me installed it for some dumb reason. He messed with it but before he would let me drive it off he "zeroed" everything out. So now it idles at 750ish rpms but the throttle is at 0%. Everytime I let off the gas the throttle is at zero. I don't know what it should be at. Sometimes if its in gear and I let off the gas and put it in neutral the RPMs will drop and sometimes the car still actually die. I think the safc is causing this.

So my questions are:
What should I set the safc to for stock intervals? I've never tuned before
Could I just remove the safc without damaGing anything?

I'm just worried the car might be running lean, but I have no way of knowing since I don't own a wideband or datalogger. I would like some insight from someone who has used these before, thanks for looking everyone!!

The SAFC 2 is purely a piggy back system, it alters the signals going to ECU in order to 'trick' it into running either richer or leaner. If it is set at 0% it shouldn't affect anything.

Before you start messing with it, get a wideband O2 sensor!

If your car has stock injectors and turbo, you could simply take it out and reconnect the wires that were cut for the MAF signal (the SAFC is in series to that wire) which would make your system essentially running like it should without tuning. You can also zero the SAFC for now if you intend on using it later.

Links to how it works if you want to double check if it's indeed zeroed:

Make sure you check both the low throttle and high . I used a safc 2 for just quick reference and slight tune . Seeing knock , and at what rpms can be help full when testing the car . They rarely cause trouble unless hooked up wrong. If the car is stumbling when you're off the the throttle it can be from iac failing or more common bov is not recirculated as a combined issue .

So now it idles at 750ish rpms but the throttle is at 0%. Everytime I let off the gas the throttle is at zero. I don't know what it should be at.
It should be at zero. The display is telling you what the throttle position is, and if you're not applying any pressure to the accelerator then the throttle position is 0%.

I know this is overstated: do a boost leak test, if you are having any sort of vacuum or boost leak in the system you will have issues with idle, in boost, and coasting down among other things. As JusMX141 said, the TPS(throttle position sensor) should be at zero when the you are off of the "go" pedal. Are you certain that the injectors on the car are stock 450cc's? If that is not the case, and the SAFC has been zeroed out, you will most definitely have cruise and idle issues, as the "tricking" of airflow to the MAF would then be gone and AFR's would be rich. Is your Greddy BOV recirculated, and have you checked any stock IC pipes for cracks and leaks as well as the recirculation tube, if applicable(which it should be according to what I see in your profile)?

No Airsign, im not completely sure they are stock injectors. Ill have to look at them more tomorrow. As to the whole greddy bov and ic piping that is still on my eclipse :p I have what I BELIEVE is a stock 2g BOV on this talon. I uploaded a picture of my car and engine bay. I dont know what kind of bov it is, and if i should take the greddy out of my eclipse and put it into my talon. but the one in the talon is recirculated. the cruise on this car doesnt work for some stupid reason, the cable and everything else are hooked up. But thats for another day. Tomorrow I will make sure its zeroed out, and probably remove it from my car if nothing else. Thanks for the help guys.
