s14 vs dsm in reguards to respect

To the general public, a swapped nissan will have more 'street cred' because all of the cool dorifto crowd is into it; that at the fact that DSMs have the worst 'reliability' history about 'em.

Which IMO is bullshit. Any mature DSM owner that isn't flat broke shouldn't have problems. It's the broke PVC pipe bs 16yr old kids that have the problems. (normally)

Well, hold on a second. S14 and the S15 are COMPLETELY different cars. Also, are you talking about an actual JDM "S14" with the SR20? or just a 240sx with the KA24? or an american 240 with a SR20 swap? I guess you can kind of compare those cars if you want, but they really are just different. It all just depends.

Then the S15 though, well IMO that's just not even fair. The S15 with the really nice blacktop SR20 is an amazing machine. Especially once they have been built a little, or a lot. That engine has so much potential. And the car can drift like no other, handle around a race track like rails, and fly down the quater mile if it wants to. It's just amazing. If you can't tell, the S15 is one of my favorite machines ever. I love the styling and performance aspects of it. It's just a shame they stopped bringing them over to the US after the S14.

But really its hard to compare cars like this. Obviously a 240 is going to get more "respect" in a Nissan/drift crowd, and a DSM will in a Mitsubishi crowd. It's all personal preference.

I kind of like that our cars aren't widely sought after now. It keeps the ignorant wannabes to a minimum.

I love the styling of the S15, it's one of those timeless designs IMO and has killer track potential to boot. I wouldn't mind a nissan s14, but I don't think I could live with the drift car stereotype.

When it comes right down to it "we" as DSM owners care very much for our cars b/c they become a part of us, (we work on them all the time),most nissan guys will tell you the same. Asfar as respect in the tuner world both the 2g DSM and the s14 be the same. How many times have you walked passed a clean DSM and not stoped to look at it? Same with the s14, i mean c'mon in the end does it realy matter to the hard core DSMer? :dsm::talon::laser:
