s-afc?

It is possible, with 660's you are nearing the limit of what most would consider its capabilities. You were right on the wish list to want a wide-band, either get that to tune with your safc or dyno tune.

If you can only afford one, throw away the WBO2 in place of a logger. You're going to get 100x more information from the logger than you ever can from the WBO2. If you can afford both, then great!

And no, you can't just tune with the SAFC. You also need a logger.

can i tune my car with jst the apexi s-afc..

Can you...yes

Is it safe...NO

My opinion is to get a WB and a logger and go from there. You need to be able to see what is going on in your engine when you are changing around settings or something is gonna break...

Investing in a WB and logger right now is a lot cheaper than doing a rebuild when your tune ruins your engine...

Like mentioned you will want to have at least a datalogger, and a wideband o2 setup is always nice to tell you the Air to Fuel ratio.

660 injectors are close to the AFC's tuning capabilities. The way it works is by basically lying to the ECU about how much airflow is entering the motor. Working like that can cause aggressive timing advance and can lead to detonation.

You can make adjustments to your car with the AFC, but you can't see how the adjustments are effecting the way the engine runs. This is dangerous. To use your AFC the right way you will need the data logger or wideband, I suggest both both starting with the logger first like Spyderturbo007 suggested. It really is one of the best tools out there.

thanks everyone..appreciate the help..
i was getting it dyno tuneed but the shop is laggin it..its not tuned because wen i first bought the car it was runnin to lean and i didnt even know so it blew out the motor..so i had it rebuilt and tuned enough to were i can break it in..and now i hit 3600 miles on it..now i want my car tuned

I tuned with just a safc.
So yes you can.

Its just not as easy and a logger would help A LOT!

Well, I guess you can try and alter the stock fuel maps arbitrarily, but you're more likely do to major damage than you are to even get close to a solid tune. It's kindof like playing with fire in a natural gas facility, you can do it, but it's going to get you in trouble.

Without a logger, you're just shooting in the dark. You have nothing to give you feedback, so what might feel or sound "right" could be 20 counts of knock. The problem is, that you'll never know your tune sucked until you're in the middle of rebuilding your motor.

The price of SAFC, a wide band, and a logger is almost as much as DSMLink.

The price of SAFC, a wide band, and a logger is almost as much as DSMLink.

Many people say this but it is a very long ways from being true.

A used dsmlink setup can be had for $700 (eprom ecu, cable, chip). We'll assume you get a really good deal and its only $650.

An SAFC can be had for about $125 ($150 for safc2) and evoscan is ~$100 for a good logger and perhaps $100 for a laptop if your don't have one. Now, a wideband will cost around $250 so our total comes to $575, but you really don't need a wideband and most of us already have laptops so instead the price comes to $225, about the same that someone would pay for an eprom ecu.

Also, for a great tune with dsmlink isn't it also recommended to have a wbo2 and an aftermarket mdp sensor? Seems like $700 is on the low end for a dsmlink setup.
