S-AFC vs. S-AFC II?

Hey guys a fellow DSMer has offered to sell me his S-AFC, but my question is will I be loosing much by getting this or should I just get the new version? Hes selling it for a great price but what do you guys think?

the only real differences between the 2 are the SAFC2 suports 2 differnt setups (IE pump gas and race gas), and has a few little things like lockout code to prevent a valet from altering the SAFC settings when your letting him drive you car around the building, I seem to remeber being told the SAFCII has additional NEpoints as well but I can not confirm this. I personally like the SAFC over the SAFCII, reason being the SAFC uses 4 differnt buttons (the arrow buttons) for adjusting where as the SAFCII has the dam joystick thing which is a pain for big handed guys to alter. more so the further away your arm gets from your body. I say buy the cheaper (as long as its in food condtion and you know it works) and spend the rest on a logger.

Now if its just the old 4 button AFC then I say buy the newer, that thing is a pain to adjust.

sounds good thanks, so the S-AFC has only maps for pump gas? Would anybody know were I could get specs for the first one? I went onto the A-PEXI website but they only show the new one now.

I believe that the AFC's have only a few rpm points and the SAFC2 has 12 if i'm not mistaken

yup the SAFC has 8 for sure. so I guess I am remebering right. But still 8 is pretty good, it got me to a 12.9 maybe 12.8 with a T28 not bad concidering im at 4200 ft and stock engine/suspension on a FWD (yes I used slicks). And had worked for years with great sucess on hundreds of other cars

As for instructions for the older SAFC I belive RRE has the flow chart and alot of good info one it, but no instruciton manual. www.vfaq.com should also have some install diagrams for the old SAFC (which is about the same minus the knock wire on the SAFC2).
