so i have a problem. i have 780cc injectors with a slightly higher pressure in the fpr and a 2g maf and intake setup on my 93 tsi. i have at my house an eprom ecu and i ordered a chip from dsmchips. unfortunately the chip won't be here until beginnning, middle of next week. and i need the car badly to get me around. how well do you think it'll drive as is? and is there any way i could adjust it for drivability with a safc?? its only gonna be a temporary fix and theres an safc my buddy is selling locally for $80 and i can bring it to a dyno and have it tuned for another $75...any input would help me a heck of a lot. thanks :thumb:

So wait a minute......You are thinking about spending $155 so that you can drive your car around while waiting for a chip that will be here in a couple of days????

Why don't you just call a cab, it will save you a lot of money. :thumb: A rental would probably be pretty cheap for a couple of days. Plus, you won't have to crawl around under the dash hacking ECU wires.

ROFL haha no no no. im hooking up the afc either way so i can fine tune the keydiver chip. i just want to know 1. can i run my car the way it is with the 2g maf and 780cc injectors without anything going wrong. and 2. could i possibly tune it slightly for better driving with an afc the way it sits. i start school which is a half hour at least away on tuesday and i need this pos to go there and back. thanks

#1 Without the chip, I woudn't even start the car. You are going to be running so rich, I don't know if the car would even run. If you have the SAFC installed and had to drive the car, you could input a baseline correction and drive the car. But I would wait for the chip. Making a baseline correction would be tough with the 2g MAS and 780's. You could guess what the 2g MAS is going to do to the correction, but it's going to be a crap shoot.

#2 I'm not really sure what you are asking here.......

ide say youll be fine for a couple days if you stay off boost of course. make sure you tune out as much gas as possible to get it as close to stoich as possible.

I've been running with stock non-eprom ECU for 2 years with 780cc injectors, raised fuel pressure and GM maf and I tune it with GM maf translator. It works but it's not perfect. SAFC might not be enough to compensate (was the max. air adjustment 50% or 100%). You are putting a lots of fuel compared to stock fuel set-up.

Here it is. Do you have a datalogger? I would get that before the AFC, or the chip.

The car will run, yes. you will definately knock when in boost, no matter how low or high it is set. Don't go there.

Your idle is going to be horrible, the car is going to run horrible. You may think it is "ok" but a logger will tell you different. The AFC can be used to gain a "decent" idle. But probably won't take out as much fuel that is needed.

You will be injecting so much gas into the motor, your oil will smell like gas. :notgood:

If you are running a 255lph you should be using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator also.

Bottomline, it works...kind of... but do yourself a favor and don't drive it like that, I'm sure you can wait. Why not just swap the injectors in when you get the chip? You can still install the AFC in the meantime, the logger is a neccessity! If you don't believe me, check my profile. Chip coming soon, not driving car. Would just run some 450's, problem is I don't have any left. :sosad:

I also thought about running the Maf T, but I think I can gain more power by lying less to the ecu. I will run it to experiment, but I want the chip to start off from scratch, not negative ungodly amounts of fuel. I feel this is the right way.

Actually, the link is the way, I just have too much invested right now.

yeah well the chip is in and it runs perfect only knock i see is when i boost at 1/4 throttle i get a little bit. but i have a different problem now. my car has a spuratic (spelling) idle and it dies on me after idling or when i put it in neutral when rolling to a stop. i know im not running crazy rich, my plugs are perfectly normal brown with some gray spots. but i did disconnect all 4 vacuum ports on my throttle body and blocked them off at the tb and where they went too. could that be a reason why its stalling out???

:notgood: oops forgot to post it, but i found the problem last week, just put back in the honey combs and i also saw that without running a filter my car would idle crappy. if i had one on then it would idle normal...weird. but its fixed pretty much except my fuel tank sending unit fuel line is leaking...again
