Ok So I just bought a second 96 GS-T for $1,500 from a older guy that said the car had been sitting outside his garage for about a year and a half now. The car doesn't run because he said it spun a rod bearing and he never fixed it. So I have it towed to my house and I jack it up to take the oil pan off and see the damage and to my surprise there was no oil pan on the car WTF. I called the guy to ask him about it and he said "Well I had the dealership take a look at it when it happened a year and a half ago and I guess they never put it back on." :toobad: So this car has been sitting out in the weather for a year and some month with no oil pan and two bearing caps (rod caps) missing. The flywheel is rusted but there appears to be no other rust. My question is what should I do. My plan was to rebuild the motor anyway, but the tranny is my worry. If the flywheel is rusted how much other damage is done to it? I was thinking of getting a Shep Tranny. Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

The tranny should be fine. As long as it isnt also partially taken apart it will still be sealed up as if you were driving it around. Nothing will have been able to work its way in there to mess things up. Good news is that a flywheel is an easy fix.

That's good news! I was worried the whole tranny was trash. So my plan is to replace the flywheel and bore out the block just to be safe. Thanks for the quick reply.

I would go over a thorough inspection , I have seen tranny's without fluid in them come out with some nasty stuff from sitting over time, i.e years.
