How much does it normally cost to get the strut tower rust fixed? Just trying to get a general idea on how much others paid

thats nothing compared to mine man, mine actually had holes. paid 200 for driver side and 80 for pass side.

Basically he cut the piece which was rusted and a little more and cut out another piece of strong metal and welded it in place

nope, it was heavily sprayed with rubber undercoating and then painted on top.

Damn... and i thought mine was bad. I thought i was looking at like $500+ to fix all this

Take a flat head screwdriver and poke around the rust, if it goes through you need to cut the towers off and weld up donors. If it doesn't poke through the metal is strong and you can sand it down and repaint. I'm in Illinois so rust is an issue so most people around here remove the surface rust and spray down a heavy coat of bed liner. Cost all depends on the shop so I can't help you there.

Yeah mine is from Michigan. I have it on the underside too but i wanna start by fixing this first. Im afraid the underside is going to be the really costly part. But basically fix the rust on the towers and spray the shit out of the underside of the tower and call it good?

just pay attention with the undercoating. if it doesn't get a good contact it could leave a air bubble underneath which can get moister under it and rot out. I've seen it a few times

Yes, prep work is key here. It's so common in my area even the local detail shops will spray that bed liner anywere you want. They can even color match it so it blends in perfectly.

This can be relatively inexpensive if you can do the labor yourself I.e. welding bodywork etc.
