rust

hey guys i just bought a 95 gst for cheap it was from the original owner and he had it well taken care of. car has a 115000 miles. only thing is was that there was surface rust on the chasis and some slight rust around engine from snow. i am more concerned with the chasis, because i plan to build this gst and am wondering if i will run into any type of major problems. i might do an engine swap if i decide to keep it. will it be wise to scape off the surface rust and spray paint it and continue my project or would the chasis fall apart. i am selling my other car and plan to spend about $10000 on this to start. i already have part bought that have not been put in until i decide to keep it or sell it. what do you suggest, thanks

sand it downa nd see how far the rust has eaten into the metal....worst case scenario weld plates on both sides nad call it good....depend son the proce your paying for it
but as long as its just surface rust you shoudl be fine
