I'm just got a 91 eclipse with a little bit of rust on the rear panel just in front of the rear drivers side tire. Any one got any ideas on how i can treat it to make sure it doesnt get any worse. Also any suggestions to make it look better:thumb:

hmm i think every 1g rusts there, but ya, how bad is it?
if its just bubbles under the paint, i dont know what to do, if its worse than that, the only way to TRULY fix it is to replace the panel.
a cheap half decent way to fix it is to sand the hell out of it so youre down to the rust pits, and have a nice ring of bare metal around the rust.
NOW do one of two things, fill it with body filler, or weld a small piece of metal on it, the ladder being the best choice.
after that youre still going to need some filler I do believe, get it so the bondo is slightly above the surronding area.
file it into shape, then sand it down. a light coat of primer will tell you how perfect your bondo shaping is, as primer will bring out every imperfection. make corrections as necessary, and prime area.
NOW for the paint part, its up to you, if the area is tiny, touch up paint might do the job, slightly bigger a spray bomb might work, this is what i used, so thats as far as I can take you, I'm gonna guess you canhave a body shop match colours and paint just the one panel for you.
Good Luck, and be prepared if youre doing this yourself, youre not gonna get it perfect right away.

Sand it down to wre ther is no more rust,
if there are no hales spray primer and paint. IMO they best way to stop rust is to sand down to bare metal as much as possible then spay paintto prevent rust coming back. If you just wld a patch there without getting rid of rust and painting affected area it will speadand you'll need to replace whole panel.
If you are good with welding or have access , cutout rust out shaped as a square and weld a whole new patch there etc.... and paint the patch on both sides before or after welding , with 1/2 inch of edge on the outside of the patch raw for welding.
