My 97 GSX is giving my nothing but headaches. I bought it a few months ago, someone couldn't get it running period. So I figured out that it was the timing. Re did the timing and it starts and runs great ( well for the first day). The next day it would bogg down and not go over 2900RPMS, it also threw 9 codes, most of them for the MAF system and a fuel pressure code. I cleared the codes and came back to it. Second time running the codes I have PO100 twice (odd). I decided to pull the connector on the MAF sensor while it was running and there was no difference. So I ordered myself a new MAF sensor.
I put the new MAF in today.... no difference. I checked to voltage at the MAF connector and all seems well there.
I want some input on the situation, I have a few ideas but I'm not 100%.

Oh the car has installed : and apexi safc2 and Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller
other than that the car is stock.
:cry::confused:

I don't have much to help with.. but someone who knows more will probably ask if you've done a boost leak test, so I figure I could ask that and hopefully help move your thread along. Have you done a boost leak test?

If you're getting all the air you're supposed to be getting, I'd have to assume it's electrical issues, but then again, you're getting the voltage you need.

idk, Good luck.

Thanks.... I figured it may have something to do with the safc2 system. If not then I'm sending my ecu out to see if they can refurbish it or if it is completely shot. I'll let everyone know how that works out, but if anyone has any other suggestions.... please feel free to post.

disconnected the safc2 and still running the same and throwing the same codes ....any other ideas ?

So you soldered all the wires back together that were cut when the SAFC was installed?

The only reason I know of that causes the ECU to throw a P0100 code is if it gets no Hz signal at all from the MAS. Double check the harness plug for the MAS and if you don't find a problem, the next thing I'd do is run a continuity test on the harness from the MAS plug to the ECU plug.

If you do decide to replace the ECU, you can just buy any 97-99 AWD ECU from the classifieds on here or eBay. The metal cased units go cheaper than what it will likely cost to refurbish one.

I actually didn't install the safc... the person who had it before me installed all of this and sold it not running well.. the timing was off about 4 teeth, now I'm just trying to figure the codes out. I haven't had a chance to get in the lately to check the wiring, but was just curious about if I disconnected it at the plug if maybe that might make a difference or if it was going to continue because the wires are already installed.

Trace the wires, find where they were spliced in and either repair the poor job the previous owner did and keep the SAFC or remove the SAFC wiring completely and reconnect the MAS wiring correctly. Your car will not run right until you fix the break in the signal to the ECU. The SAFC is installed by putting it in line between the MAS and ECU, so removing just the SAFC head unit and leaving the hacked wiring alone is exactly why you have a code indicating there's no MAS signal to your ECU. Find where he tapped into the wiring, my guess is probably right at the ECU harness plugs under the center of the dash.

Thank you for the settings for that air flow converter. I went and reset everything to how apexi recommends for my set up... now the code has been gone for 2 days and it isn't running rich like it was.
