So my talon has been down for about six months or so now. It was running great for a while then it started having issues and I didn't have the time to work on it. I now have the time and have been going back and attempting to figure out what is wrong but I have not been able to so far. I checked the timing and did a compression test today. The timing was almost perfect, only about a degree off so I adjusted it and now it is at exactly 5 degrees BTDC. The compression test gave me some results I was not expecting. I got 145 135 147 145 when I did the test and then when I added a cap full of oil to each cylinder one at a time and let it sit for a minute or two I got 171 165 151 165 which from what I have read means that I probably have a bad piston ring. The thing that threw me for a loop is that the pistons and valves were all redone about 10000 miles ago because of a timing belt failure. The car did sit for seven years after all the engine work was done though and I'm not sure if that could have caused one or more of the rings to go bad. I don't even know if bad rings could cause my issues or not. Right now the car will start and idle just fine at about 750 - 800 rpm but it has no acceleration at all. When the pedal is to the floor it barely pulls at all and when going up a hill that is not a very steep incline it almost doesn't make it up. I do have a boost leak, it's not a giant one but it is a decent leak. I have been unable to pinpoint it yet. I have replaced my tb seals and the oring in the turbo to fix some leaks. The turbo is also good, it was replaced with a used turbo when the engine work was done and it has very minimal shaft play. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you actually do a boost leak test or are you just replacing things hoping that it will fix the leak. It will be real easy to find the leak once you pressurize the system.

Yes I have done a boost leak test. Last time I did it I broke my home made tester so I need to fix that. The things I replaced were places where it was leaking. Before all this started happening I fixed mostly all of the leaks and it would hold pressure pretty well and only leak out very slowly.

Still haven't been able to figure it out. I'm going to check the timing marks on the cam gears right now and see if it jumped a tooth or two

Make sure all of your vacuum hoses are still plugged in where they belong. Then make sure all of your hose clamps for your turbo and intake plumbing are still there. I had the same symptoms as you to find out that three of my clamps were completely missing. If those thinga check out Check your fuel pressure

So you broke the boost leak tester and didn't figure whether or not there was leak. Do a complete leak test, than come back with the results. It's hard for us to help you if you haven't done the basics.
