This is the car 1996 Eclipse 420a non turbo manual trans just a little over 100k. The previous owner and some of his friends thought they could change the head gasket (wrong). So I picked it up after they had taken the head off and could not get it back together. The car is now all back together with all the pieces they broke or missed up having been repaired or replaced. I went to start it, turned the key, fuel pump runs it has fuel to the rail, cranks well has good compression, it has spark, it runs fine on starting fluid but appears that it has no injector pulse (no fuel from the injectors). Am I missing something? I need some help from the experts.

mine was camshaft sensor...just check wiring.crank sensor will also cause this...if crank sensor just "dies" then it wont store a code either.i pulled my inectors and tryed starting engine and nth..i messed with crank sensor and it shoot fuel everywhere...worth a check
 
I changed the cam sensor, the crank sensor I even changed the magnet on the cam, it is still the same no fuel from the injectors. I runs fine as long as it has starting fluid to keep it running. It revs up idles everything it should do just not on the injectors. I checked the wiring no broken or frayed wires no blown fuses. When It is idling on starting fluid there is no clicking heard from the injectors I also noticed it will not run at all, with out the cam or crank sensor or the ASD relay plugged in, so it appears they are all working, at least to me. I don't want to get a PCM unless I know it will fix the problem This thing is driving me nuts I need some more help/advice what am I missing?
 
The 420 powered eclipses have a tsb for the cam and crank sensors and new connectors. The old style is round so if your connectors on the crank or cam sensor are round then they need upgraded to the new sensor and connector. You may be able to get this aftermarket but I would go directly to the dealer and get it as this is a very common problem and will have the parts in stock and can look up the exact part numbers per the tsb. The other thing is make sure that the fuel pump relay which is on the ds part of the fire wall, first one on the left, is not corroted internally. This is very very common. I have had many with bad relays. goodluck
