running without my engine management system

So I have ECU+, the old school one. Im sending it in to upgrade to the newer one (since it now fully supports OBDII ) I have 720cc injectors, 50trim, 255, afpr. Is my car going to be drivable for a few days while my ECU+ is gone?

I would say no. You have no way to scale for the injectors. But I may be wrong. You may be able to drive it it may just run bad. And I am looking at the ecu+ for my car. Do you like it? I am torn between that and dsmlink. Good luck

I would really recommend it. I havent ever used DSMlink but from just randomly reading things about it, it seems as though ECU+ now has more capabilities then DSMlink. With the plug N play harness, installation takes minutes. Full OBDII support, fuel and timing maps, works DIRECTLY with GM MAF, EGT and wideband logging, so much more.

The only major difference between the two is native MAFT support. DSMLink should be supporting it in their next major release. Other than that they're the same, and I'd still recommend DSMlink for the incredible support they have. And no, you can't run your car without fuel control.

and that you dont need an eprom ecu, which is a huge advantage for those of us without it.
ECU+ is $499, plug N play version is $599. DSMlink is $565 + socketing + eprom ecu. I dont know how "plug N play" that is.
As well is (I could be wrong) I see no information on DSMlink's site about Palm support. ECU+ provides both. Very useful when you dont want to have your laptop around (or cant) and you still want to watch whats goin on or change settings. Granted its not as full featured as the Windows version but capable enough.

DSMLink does have palm support, albeit not "officially". Hal Landry wrote the client, so I'd expect good things out of it. Yes, you have to get an EPROM, but for the support that's provided with Link, and the amount of features that are already included and those that are forthcoming, I don't see why there's a question.

I think that the queestion was can he drive the car while the system is being updated. Not a debate between ecu+ and dsmlink. He already has ecu+ he want to update to the new version. A good idea. I have decided to go ecu+ myself.

Ha ya it was but I was also contributing to the off topic conversation. As far as capability, DSMlink and ECU+ are pretty much neck and neck, the things that one has that the other doesn't is just playin a catch up game that both will eventually tie. The deciding factor is if you have an EPROM or not. Both apparently have amazing support, ECU+ also offers Palm software with their product.
