When I start my car up it run and sounds like a lawnmower, under the hood sounds like I'm leaking air but I check it all when I try to drive it will drive but backfires pretty bad and I have no power just spits and sputters please help .
The other day I took my car to auto zone and they hooked it up to there one machine and it tripped like 10 codes one of the main one said that cylinder 2 was misfiring o2 sensors ,bad egr valve bad malf senors among other things.

Should I trust auto zone machine at all and can some tell me what to do cause all this sounds real bad

Thanks

first off LEARN TO TYPE

secondly, advanced just plugs in a machine and tells you what codes your engine is throwing. It doesnt matter where you take it. If you think its shaddy take it somewhere else and have them pull the codes.

now once you've learned to type properly.

Give us a better description of the problems you are having and a list of all the engine codes you are throwing. A history of the car would help also.

Sorry About The Typing But Anyway My Car Is Pretty Much Stock. I Have A 3 Inch Exhaust, Greddy Bov Thats It. For My Problem It All Starts When I Start The Car It Does Not Do It Every Time But When It Does It Sounds Like Air Is Leaking Out Of The Engine It Idles Fine But When I Rev It It Sound Like A Lawnmower, When I Start To Go The Car Spits And Sputters Like Crazy, It Then Sometimes Stops When I"m Driving, And Go's Back To Normal. As Far As The Codes Go From Auto Zone That Was Just To Get An Idea Of The Problem That I Have, I Know I Going To Have To Take It To A Shop But Just Seeing If Anybody Had Any Advice, and How Bad This Problem Is And What Else May Go Wrong Cause Of This.

There, thats better, now I can read it, kinda. If I were you I would go back and write down all the codes that the car is throwing. That way you know exactly what they all are. Then I would see if you can fix any of the problems yourself, it will save you some money if you fix them instead of having someone else do it. Then I would find a good shop near you that knows how to work on DSM's and bring the car to them and have them fix the problems that you cant fix.

If you hear air leaking in the engine bay do a boost leak test. This will take care of a lot of car running crappy problems by showing you leaks in your boost system.

Ok Thats What I'll Do But Off The Top Of Your Head What Would Cause Cylinder 2 To Misfire

Spark Plug, Spark Plug Wire, Injector clogged. Could be a number of things.

Is There Anything Else I Should Get Checked Out. Can This Problem Blow The Engine

I agree with what was said before. Get the codes and fix what you can. It sounded like you need an O2 sensor, a tune up, and a boost leak test.

If you have a bad o2 sensor, bad spark plug/cable, and a big boost leak, you car will probably run like a lawnmower.

I don't know if just starting it up to test things will hurt the car or not, but I really wouldn't drive it anywhere on 3 cylinders.

And quit $#%@ing capitalizing everything!:beatentodeath:

And good luck.:thumb:

Stop typing every word with a capital letter! Your english teacher would back hand you for that in class so don't do it here either.

But I agree, don't get too overwhelmed. Just write down the codes and start replacing shit.
Your cylinder 2 misfire is possibley from the bad bad o2 sensor code you're getting, so fix that first.
Next do a boost leak test. Search and use the Vfaq.
Finally diagnose remaining CEL codes and report back the results of your 02 replacement, your boost leak test (I want to know where your leaks were, how you fixed them, and how long you could hold 20psi in your intake tract for before it bleeds to zero. Use your boost gauge to determine this. Don't have one? Buy one.).

Good luck. :thumb:
