idle problem/running poorly

hey guys, i just bought a 92 eclipse gs, it does not have any upgrades done to it. what the problem is though, a lot of the time when you start it, it will just die again, and it will do that a few times before it will stay running, but it also likes to die alot when sitting at a stop light or something like that. also the idle like to bounce from around 700 rpm, to around 1500 rpm, someone told me it maybe the O2 sensor, or the pcv valve. Does that sound correct? Any help is greatly appriciated

both those are possibilities

the car i just bought wont stay runing unless its has some throttle input so i losened the two bolts that hold the throttle cabel and adjusted the rpm till it would stay running that way so i could see if it ran and shifted or it was going to the junkyard(i work at a impound lot)

BTW this is a very temperary fix but you could do it this way so it wont stall on you

mine will be a race car so it doesnt matter if it idles at 1500 rpm

iac? does it run better with the ac on? check the resistance in the iac coils my .02

could also be the TPS)throttle position sensor. I have the check engine light on and my two codes for that were the TPS and IAC. now one more problem has arrisen which is when I am going, the speedometer seems to want to move "in-sync" with the tach. someone told me it was the speed sensor? its racking up not used miles.

actually when i have the a/c on, it makes it do it much worse, sorry for being such a newbie, but what is the iac, the check engine light comes on breifly then goes back off again a lot of the time too, how do i check codes to see whats wrong, thanks guys for your help

been having the same problems as of just lately. friend of mine thinks it could be water in the fuel. when I check the codes there's around 6-15 that come up, all different related issues. obviously some kind of electrical issue, mechanics thought it might be some ground wire. The car has been having problems starting (it will eventually start after a few minutes of sweet talk and perserverence. 93 eagle talon. the check engine light is permanently on now too :/
