Hey guys, im planning on taking apart my ex. mani, my o2 housing because im trying to figure out whats causing my boost creep but all my gaskets are shot and heard of people using the RTV copper gasket for their ex mani and the rest with no gasket and never had any leaks. Is this a good idea? No one here in town sells the mani to turbo gasket or the o2 gasket... I have to put my car back together today.. thanks

i have recently used this copper rtv. i blew the gasket on my external wastegate. so i heard to use the copper rtv. well all have to say, is dont use this stuff on a exhaust manifold. it got all over the place. it like melted.

Exhaust gets WAY to hot to use any type of RTV gasket maker. I would hold off a day or two and pick up the new gaskets...They are pretty cheap anyways and you'll have no leaks. With the exhaust gaskets you could use Copper spray which seals pretty good and has a good outcome but not with beat up gaskets

Wow and to think I was gonna use this stuff on the FP manifold. ROFL

I suppose metal gasket and bolts are he only way to go then? I always questioned the reliability of red and copper RTV. Both state they are good up to 700*F. If I remember correctly, our manifolds go up to 900*F.

All I have to say is that when I got full exhaust on my old 02 WRX I had I only reused my old gasket on the downpipe to turbo, I used just RTV copper on all other exhaust joints because I couldnt wait for all the other gaskets. I planned on getting gaskets down the line, but 2 years went by and they never ever leaked. But I dont know about on a O2 housing, definetely not on a Ex. manifold, way too hot. You are better coating the hell outta the old ones with copper RTV or just wait and order the right ones online. That would be a hell of a lot easier than having to take it all off again anyways when you have a million leaks.
