RTM Exhaust Sound?

I've got an RTM catback on my 2g (with a Megan Racing dp) but I can't fire it up at the moment 'cause I droppped the exhaust and a bunch of other things to change out the rear subframe bushings. If I get that project done anytime soon (yeah, right!) I'll post up a clip at some point. However, if I can attempt to descibe the sound in words, I'd call it a very pleasant, moderately muscular rumble with not a hint of annoying raspy, honda-like droning. Everyone who's heard it has commented that it sounds "proper" and not annoying in any way. I should point out that I run with a fully-functioning cat, so that should be noted.

Is this for a 2g AWD? If so, the downpipe and catback together make up the entire exhaust from O2 housing to muffler tip. Not sure if we call it a "turbo back" or not, but whatever we call it, it's the downpipe and catback together.

If you wanted the whole system from o2 housing to muffler tip and aren't planning to add a cat, then you'd go with the cat-eliminating downpipe and catback system. I have to point out though, that without a cat the exhaust will sound a little less "deep rumbly" and a little more "throaty" if I can word it that way. Some people prefer more throatiness, some don't. I happen not to, but who cares what I like or don't like, right?

Unless you live in a state that does yearly emmisions testing, I think a cat is useless. Out of the 50 states there's like 40 of them that don't require a emmissions test so it makes no sense to buy a cat on purpose if the state you live in don't require testing.

On the shitty side, no matter what state you live in, any muffler shop you go to won't install your "catless" exhaust system.

But if you got 4 jack stands and a little bit of motivation you can install the exhaust your self. On a 1 - 5 scale of difficulty (1 being easy 5 being hard) I would honestly rate a exhaust install about a one and a half or a two.

It aint hard at all. Any noob could do it

I'm not worried about the difficulty, just the sound of the exhaust.
