My tsi started acting a little funny today after driving it a little hard, but nothing out of the ordinary. Anyways, my rpms will occassionally 'jump' or 'stutter' for a second. It seems to only happen above 3k rpms. However, the car runs fine still. Idles great, sounds normal while the rpms are climbing, and drives the same even while the needle is jumping. Is it a possibility that the actual tach could be failing? The car only has 102k miles on it but who knows. Besides a possible failing tach, what else could result in a jumping rpm gauge? Thanks

Does your rpms raise a little bit but no power or slips above 3k when u get on it? or does it do it when u get on it or all the time past 3k

It only happens every once in a while. But after 3k rpms and @ 15psi the rpms slip, only when I really get on it though. I can drive it round town no problem. The guy who sold me the car put it back together quickly because it was in pieces and only had a oem clutch. I think the clutch under the amount of hp and torque the car has isnt holding up. Not suprised though LOL
