I have a 1997 gsx with a lightened act flywheel and a 2600 act clutch. My car under wot doesn't slip 1st - 4th gear. The car seems to slip or rpms spike when im on the highway going 65 mph and when in 5th gear, it varies sometimes when im at 40% throttle and it begins to boost rpms spike, sometimes it holds when in wot in 5th gear.

"Put your car in 3rd gear going about 10-15 mph, then floor it and if your rpm's go up but your car isn's hardly movign any faster then your clutch is slipping. "

I tried the above quote, but the rpms dont go soaring, the car just operates normal under those condiotions.

Any help would be great!!! Thanks hope you guys all have a happy thanks giving!

It still sounds like the clutch is slipping to me. Are you sure the pedal height and freeplay are adjusted properly? Usually a slipping clutch is first evident in the higher gears where the greatest load is present, like you are experiencing in 5th gear.

if the pedal height and freeplay are not adjusted correctly, it could present symptoms like mine?

Yes. If the master is adjusted too tight than it will not let the slave release all the way and it will allow the clutch to slip.

Proper adjustment of the master cylinder rod is very important, if you do not have the half inch of free play your clutch may be partially engaged which may not be very noticeable but will ruin your clutch rather quickly. Your clutch is more likely to slip at a lower RPM, because there is more load on the drive train. A quick test for your clutch: have your car at idle, set the parking brake, engage clutch, put in 4th gear, let clutch out slowly. If it doesn't stall you are having clutch slip, either from a worn clutch or poorly adjusted master. Hope this helps.
