just trying to diagnose a weird problem that maybe you can link together
motor blew

my idle was very weird and wouldnt stay running unless constant gas was applied.
then all of a sudden i woke up try to start car wouldnt start. tryied again......nothing

FINALLY about 5th time it starts..... but the rpms and my idle are at 2500-3000
that is not a good thing..... later that day while going to work the motor got a horrible knock......which is being fixed

so i am curious as to what could cause it to idle so high and then blow up in the same day?

detail what you mean by "motor blew"? usualy this means that the motor does not run and needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

idle problems can be solved, but these are a significant # of confounding factors - TPS, ISC, boost leak, idle adjustment, timing, tuning, fuel, etc. for us to help, we need more info please.

needing at one point to constantly apply gas is a clue. this may or may not be related to the no start that ensued. when it finally started and idled high, was it steady or did it fluctuate widely?

High idle can be a vacuum leak.
