well im thinking i probably jumped a tooth in timing so i checked the belt and everything seemed to line up fine. i think it started when i was on my way to school and i was not all there and shifting from 3rd to 4th, something seemed weird so i was cautious and let the clutch out slowly, then the revs start going up a bit so i realize im about to drop it into 2nd so i push it back in and go into 4th. damn shifter and its big time slack from side to side. it only went up to around 5-6k, 7 at the max. nothing major.

when i go to start my car it idles really rough, i had rough idle before but never knew why, maybe pte injectors or something, but now its worse. it actually dies if i dont give it a bit of gas to take off at first. and then once i get to 4k it seems like if im missfiring. i changed the wires maybe 5k miles or less ago and the plugs have about 1k. i checked the plugs and they seems fine. i was going to check the wires for resistance right after this post and take some pics of marks.

ohhh and im getting about 140 miles per tank.

heres a few pics on timing.

cant be boost leak since i still boost past 20psi but it just starts missing. i checked the resistance on the wires and they all checked out good. also checked the plugs and they looked fine other than normal wear.

ohhh and good one bish.

any other thoughts?

you might be blowing out your plugs swap to a set of ngk bpe8's gap them to .28 and you should be good. i had the same thing in mine. i would boost 22lbs and then i would get that crazy ass back fire like "put put put put" swaped the plugs and everything was good.

cant be the fuel trims since i havent changed them in months. i checked them yesterday and even saved em to ecu again just to be sure. cant remember the settings since they are on laptop.

yea i was thinking of just replacing the plugs since itll only be 8 bucks. that way i can definately rule that out.

Why does everyone assume that just because they can build boost they don't have any leaks:confused:

You could be blowing out your spark as suggested. Also your timing is off.

im not saying i cant have boost leaks but what i actually meant is i cant have a huge leak. 22 psi is quite a bit of boost to hold. yea i could try a boost leak test to not have ANY leaks but im sure thats not the problem here.

ok about timing. does it look like it jumped a tooth? everything seems fine to me but i could be wrong.

Bust out a timming light and check base timming. Your camangle sensor may not be working right.

you can still build boost levels with a boost leak. just to make sure. cause the smallest leak can effect the car. you might be building more boost yet only registering 20. it never hurts to double some times tripple check.

i have an avcr and thats what it set at. i cant see how building boost to 22psi and the car driving perfect the whole time would be a symptom of boost leak. then everytime past 4k whether im building boost or not it starts missing. seems more like an ignition problem. im no professional mechanic so i could be wrong.

Edit. i know i could still have a boost leak even though im boosting what i have on my avcr. the wastegate will stay closed till the specified boost is reached. but you know what im trying to go. heh.

Your edit basically just explained what I wanted to say. My friend had a coupler that was not totally on his intake piping and he was still building 15 psi (what his mbc is set at) totally fine. When we did a boost leak he would not old over 5psi with a compressor. It goes to show that turbos compensate quite alot. Do your boost leak test. You will be stunned.
