im going to have to replace my rotors on the gst because its getting a little unsafe when braking... i took them to have them turned and the guy said that it was a little too thin but could be done but my best bet would just be to buy some new rotors. I called my mech. and asked him how long it would take him to do it and then he pops the question. "Are they pressed on or bolt on?"

what are they? pressed or bolted?
 
what kind of mech is that if he doesnt know about basic brakes on a eclipse, but anyways, they are just held in by 2 screws, but sometimes, ther isnt any screws and all you have to do is remove the caliper, I would just do it yourself, its very easy, also any place that will turn a rotor knowing that its under the specs for safety I would never ever bring my car there for anything. Brakes a SO important, if there to thin and you turn them, they can crack and break, then you have no front brakes. So get new rotors, and if you can replace them yourself. ;)
 
my mechanic is out of town and he works for honda so he doens't know a whole lot about mitsu's. both places i went to ask them if they would turn them they said that they would but my best bet was to buy new rotors. anyone know how much oe's are?
 
i just recently changed all 4 of mine with the power slot plus and the only thing holding the rotors on is the wheel rim and possably rust. all you have to do after removing the tire is remove two bolts holding on the caliper. tie wrap them out of the way. DO NOT remove brake line. remove two bolts holding on the caliper carrier bracket. then remove the rotor. a lot of cases the rotor will be rusted to the hub, if so you will see two small threaded holes in the rotor hat (do not remember the size), stick appropriate size bolt in the holes, give them a twist and the rotor will pop off. i would suggest you clean the rust off with dremmel tool or sandpaper so the new rotor will set correctly. then re-install. takes about an hour per corner if you're just screwing around. do it yourself and save that expensive labor rate for something else.

Yeah, like Jim said, the only thing holding the rotors on the car is the wheels themselves. (and in some cases, a little bit of rust) To remove the rotors, you have to remove the aliper (2 bolts), then you have to remove the caliper bracket (2 more bolts). After that the rotor will slide off unless it is rusted on there.

It can take up to an hour per wheel if you have to battle with overtightened bolts or rust. However, I've done mine it as little as 15-20 min per wheel, so it can be done.
