When i was reading up on suspension for 1g's i read that some 1g guys don't like how the agx's ride in the rear. Personally, i'm going to go with Koni's and GC's, rear sway, and bushings.

Im not looking for awesome ride quality, ill only be in it for 10 seconds at a time unless im putting it around the pits at the track. Plus ill only be going in a straight line so body roll isnt a big deal. My main concern is that I need something to keep the tires planted and so I wont rub the rear tires by hitting the fender well when I launch. From all ive heard I think the AGX's with the ground control coilovers are the better way to go. Is there any hard evidence as to prove me wrong? I really dont want to spend more money than I need to.

for that purpose, I don't see why AGX (with the hardest setting!) with some GCC's will give you issues.

That's VERY sexy. What size rim did you go with? how tall are the tires?

I went with a 16 inch rim, they weigh in at around 15 lbs a piece, and the tires are 26x9.5x16. Thank you.

you may sacrifice some agility with more rubber, but the grip is irreplaceable.

Few things you're overlooking here.

1) Those guys are running race tires. Not street tires. They don't have fancy things like tread blocks and mushy sidewalls.

2) Not long after writing that, DG stepped up to a 285/??/18 setup. There's a reason for the shorter sidewall.

3) When it comes to race rubber, the available choices in sizes are quite limited.

Ya I got those too, and the KYB's. They helped me pull a 1.61 60ft. but I still have alot of playing arond with the suspension left to do.

Thanks, theres not much room left in the wheel wells, but thees just enough. Ya the 1.61 was with that set up. I thought it was slow, the car didnt have much squat in the back end and there was too much tire pressure but for the first time with that set up I cant complain too much. I was really gunning for a 1.5 60 foot but that will be soon enough.

The tires that im going to use are hoosier quick time pro, 26x9.5x16. those should give me more than enough grip. I think with a 45mm offset that should work. They come in a 40 and 45 from what ive seen at least.

This is the setup I am running on my 1999. It cleared no problems in the front, and I needed to put a 3mm spacer in the rear to clear the upper portion of the spindle.

My main focus is my suspesion/traction set-up right now.
I got some K-Sport Coilovers last week, and I'm looking at the same Rota/Hoosier combo now. ((havent installed the K-Sports Yet. I'll probably do it today))

Can you tell me more about your 1.61 60ft, and how you were set-up? What kind of air pressure were you running? You have non-adjustable ride height then? ...what is all in the back of you car? ....is it gutted? ...no bumber? I'm wondering about weight.

If I decide to go with the rota/hoosiers, I would hope to see at least 1.5x 60fts with that combo, and would love to see a 1.49 or better. I got a 1.64 60ft with my Eibach/Koni suspesion, and stockwheel/205wide Hankook tires .....If I spend all that $$$ on Rota's & Hoosier's I better darn well see atleast 1.5's

Thanks again, Ill see if I can get somemore pics of it up tonight. The kybs were set at "3" for the rear, 1 being softest and 4 being hardest. I think Ill go with 2 next time. There was 28 lbs of pressure in the tires which was WAY to much for the track I should have been around 20lbs. The Coil overs are fully adjustable but I think that the ride hight is good where it is. You will need to cut the front spring perch to fit the Hoosiers, no way around it. But they go on the back just fine. For the launch, I was on my 2step which is set at 6000rpm, too low for these tires. Preloaded the clutch, yanked on the e-brake hard, let off the brake and took off.

Im down here in southern oregon, where the air and tracks suck, I did live in tri-cities for a year and did run at renegade a few months ago. The guys at Kaizenspeed built the car. I am planning on making trips to more of the tracks up north. Ill get ALOT quicker times than down here.

You will like the tires, I hae cut 1.47 60's on those wheels/tires/shocks in the 5 speed car and Brian has managed 1.38 60's in the auto car on that setup.

Those are awesome 60ft times. What settings were you at, tire pressure, strut stiffness? I cant wait to take it to the track again to see how I can improve, I just need somemore practice on them I guess.
