i have a 1997 gsx and i put a rod through the front and back of the block as well as the oil pan. i can get an evo3 swap from my buddy's wrecked evo for a good price. my car is currently set up for a 6bolt swap but i dont have dsmlink yet and am having trouble finding a 6bolt engine in my area. how hard would the evo3 swap be to put in and am i able to put the entire swap in or just certain parts? i need any and all help as i need to get the car back on the road ASAP. any and all help is greatly appreciated. if i posted in the wrong spot please help me to move my thread where it needs to be. thanks again everyone.

Soooooo....did you have a 6 bolt engine and want to drop in a different 6 bolt, but you have the opportunity to get a 7 bolt??

Yes that's it. I have the adapter from RRE or Magnus so I would just have to solder the 7bolt cas sensor back on and the evo3 swap would work correct?

You can just use the 1g cam sensor if you already are using that for your 6 bolt and not worry about installing the cam and crank sensors from the 97. You will need the 97-99 intake cam, cam sensor, 95-99 crank sensor and 95-99 trigger plate if you want to go back to the 2g sensors. The evo3 engine has just a cam sensor like a 1g, but it is a little different in design. Everything else will be a direct bolt in. The evo engine has a better intake manifold, slightly better cams and bigger injectors (if they are still the stock evoIII injectors).

Don't forget that you will need an awd 7 bolt flywheel also.

Uhm the evo 3 long block should drop in your car no problems.

You might need to switch the intake manifold if you want to keep your MDP sensor, and egr port.

You also might need to switch the intake cam to fit your car based on which cam angle sensor your car uses. Though, there are various work arounds.
