hey everyone, I was wondering how hard it would be to just swap a 6 bolt block for my 7 bolt 4g63t? I want to use the 2g head, intake, etc so would it just be simple to throw everything on a built 6 bolt block? I know I'd have to switch the tranny, flywheel, etc. Thanks for the help

Change the flywheel to a 6bolt one. Need a water pump and front cover for the 6bolt motor... Don't have to change the tranny. The head will need the holes for the studs drilled out 1mm so it will fit on the 1g block. And you will have to modify the driver side motor mount a little bit so it fits on the 6bolt block correctly and clears the water pump. You will also need the timing stuff for the 6 bolt Like the tensioner pulley and idler pulley

Would you recommend just buying a 1g head thats already done (valves, springs, new cams, etc) because I am building the 6 bolt so I can run a bigger turbo than the e3 16g I have now, something like a gt30/60 trim.

Do you have a different car that this is going in??? Or are you planing to put it in your NT 2g?? I am so confused profile says NT pictures show 4g63 in there LOL

I had a 2.4 spyder that I did a 7 bolt 4g63t swap into thats up and runnign now but I know one of my rings are shot and I should have just did the 6 bolt swap first but live and learn...

Note: I still have my 2.4 block in my garage but how easy are they to build? And are they any better than the 6 bolt?

ooo ok LOL...well truthfully I would say search about the head. I couldn't really recommend one or the other.

how did you use your 2.4 block and how is it?

So would it be worth it to just bore the 2.4, put pistons, rods, etc in it? Since I dont believe the 2.4 had crankwalk issues and I already have the block in my garage...

Well you will end up with more lower end torque and spool the turbo faster if you keep it.

Could that block still take the power a 4g63 can take though since I want somewhere near 450-500hp..

Well are you talking about tossing the stock 2.4 back on? In that case I'd say no, it wouldn't be the safest idea to try to make 500whp. I'm sure it can/has been done, but if you have the block out of the car already and have the funds just go with some forged internals, that would surely be able to safely handle your goal.

Don't toss it in there with stock internals on the bottom end. It wont last. And i doubt you will get anywhere near 400 and have it last with stock internals on the 2.4

No i wouldnt run stock internals, I was j/w if forged internals in a 2.4 would be as good if not better than running forged internals in a 6 bolt since I already have ther 2.4 block and wouldnt need to search for a block even though they are easy to find.
