Road Surge Box to Aftermarket Steering wheel Buttons

I'm just wondering if its Possible to use a AfterMarket steering wheel with 2 buttons on it and have one be a upshift button and the other be a down shift button. I like the Idea of the Road Surge box but i just think that it would be best if i had both my hands at the wheel for reasons like i get out of the grove at the track and have to steer a bit instead of having one on the box and another on the wheel. Maybe im getting ahead of myself or maybe it's been talked about but i've been looking for a while and nothing - thanks

Sounds like a good idea to me - I haven't looked at the Road Surge box up close and personal, but my understanding is that it is made to easily be hacked so that you can use it the way you want (the maker mentions that a paddle shifter could be wired in). I think you are on to a good idea if no one else has already had it. Really, if you are only drag racing (not doing any kind of racing that requires down shifting), you might only want an up shift button on the steering wheel - you might not want to have such easy access to the down shift button since accidentally hitting that could be disastrous (imagine your car starts sliding in the rain and you are man handling the steering wheel to gain control and you accidentally down shift from 2nd to 1st).

Before looking into the roadsurge box I was actually looking at import muscle tcu reflash and going with there manual valve body style shifter and just using a pro ratchet shift, but this seems like a better way for me to go. If the box is set up the way I think it is inside. I could just cut the wire to the upshift and down shift button and run them to the steering wheel. Id still have to find a way for fuel line pressure but I guess I can work out the details with the guys from roadsurge

What is this "Import Muscle" place? I'd like to know more about a manual valve body, but only if it retains things like reverse and 1-4 + lockup. How about the road surge box?
