hey i ripped my fuel line trying to replace my fuel filter the nut was to sized in , well i ripped it and i was wondering if theirs a temporary fix i can do ? i need the car monday and all i have is 20 bucks to fix?

i was thinking what if i cut fd up part of the tubeing and replaced it with a nylon line and a clamp and find some type of fitting for the filter ?

do you guys know any quick cheap solutions??

its a 1991 eagle talon

I snapped mine under the filter years ago..I rigged it together, reflared both ends, put some type of fitting in there..Never leaked once.

Cost was cheap as hell..

If it were to happen now.I would buy the kit/with billet filter and never have to mess with it again.

The problem is those earl's fittings are rated to 50 psi max. Not good enough as base pressure rises with boost well past that.

Except he's N/T. Although 50 psi is still a little too close IMO but theoretically it should work with no problems. For $20 you can't do much. If you can somehow get a bead on the line, you could slip a teflon hose over the line and use some hose clamps. Next thing would be to put a B nut on the line, then flare it, then use some AN lines but that's going to more than $20.

Let me elaborate. I used a mini tube cutter and I cut about 10 inches of line off a junkyard car. I cut after the first curve as this is the first reasonably long straight piece of tubing. I cut my tubing at about the same spot. I used the flare nut from the salvage car as it was already on there and of course the salvage line was already flared. I used a STEEL compression fitting from an industrial plumbing store to join the two straight pieces. In the end I had a line that terminated in the stock location, looks stock, works like stock except for the fitting on the straight portion. No leaks and that was probably 100k miles. I think I spent about 10$ as the salvage part was practically free if not free.

i fixed it i got compression fittings and a small pipe from ace hardware and some jb weld epoxy, i installed the fittings, and put the jbweld expoxy on the ends were it would leak sealed em, no leaks and it cost me, $17

i am going to replace my fuel line later, but its a good temporary fix if anyone wants to try it.

ahh dam i didnt see your guys other replies , i woulda done something with those ahh dam thanks alot tho guys i appreciate it very help full.

Definitely be careful with fuel. I did the fuel filter on my car and left the old washers in, next time I checked it was actually leaking fuel. Got new washers and no more leaking.

Brass ferrules will eventually leak at that pressure. It will leak and you will burn the car to the ground. Lokup the pressurerating of that fitting. If memory serves Iit barely enough. Guesing its hardware store stuff. Dont say I didnt warn you and I told you to use steel.

I re did everything I used a high pressure fuel line hose, and fuel pressure clamps put 2 on each side n the ends were flared cost under 5 bucks

Just an update for whoever wondered if this fixed worked

Its been working great , fuel line holds up good

Fix was 5 bucks

If your line ripped easy thing to do it get fuel pressure rated hose and fuel injection clamps

Clamp it tight your good to go!

Fix under 5 bucks

The high pressure hose is made for fuel injection applications. With good clamps it will hold forever. The only problem with what you did is that you didn't bead roll the end of the fuel line. It should hold fine if the line was dry, but if any gas gets between the line and hose it will slide right off.
